SWAGA is a one year pilot project that identifies and supports the formation of groups of marginalized poor girls and women in the reproductive age to act as pillars for prevention and response to issues of Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH), early and forced marriages. The groups integrate saving and credit activities for members to build up a fund that enables improved access to financial services at user-friendly terms.

Access to financial services enables members of the respective groups to access credit to enable them meet SRH needs among other socio-economic needs in their households. The fund also enables members to access financial services to start individual and joint businesses to improve their socio-economic wellbeing.

The project also builds the capacity of members to advocate, champion change and amplify voices of women and girls. It puts the marginalized women and girls in the lead to champion change in their economic status and to fight social ills that majorly affect women and girls. This project is implemented in Kamuli and Pallisa districts of Uganda.
